Season: Fall (Dagwaagin)

Lesson plans that are appropriate for September through November implementation, either by theme or activity. Early September Ojibwe families began harvesting fall crops such as wild rice, and maple sugar; they fished and prepared equipment such as bark and woven mats for winter. Once fall tasks were complete families would take their supplies and move to their winter camps in areas were hunting and trapping were plentiful throughout the cold months.
